Resumen
El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar los resultados de la primera etapa de un proyecto de investigación que tiene por objetivo conocer cómo es el proceso de creación de competencias para gestionar la sucesión en las empresas familiares. Esta primera etapa es de naturaleza exploratoria y se basó en entrevistas a expertos y directivos de empresas familiares así como en una amplia revisión de la literatura sobre el tema en la cual se analizan los conceptos de empresa familiar, su efectividad, modelos de desarrollo de este tipo de empresa, sucesión directiva y competencias. El asunto investigado se considera de vital importancia por el rol de las empresas familiares en la economía de los países y por el impacto que tiene el proceso de sucesión sobre la tasa de mortalidad de este tipo de empresas. Luego de presentar los conceptos y teorías relacionados con el problema, se los relaciona con los hallazgos de las entrevistas para elaborar las conjeturas que guiarán la siguiente etapa del proyecto.
Abstract
This work’s aim is to show the results of a research project which goal is to find out how is the process of competence building for the management of the succession process in family business. The nature of this first stage is exploratory and it is based in interviewing experts and managers of family businesses as well as an extensive literature review about family business, succession process and competences. The research topic is important because of the role of family business in many countries’ economies and because of the succession process impact on family business mortality rates. After introducing the main concepts and theories related to the research topic, they are related to the interviews’ findings for the elaboration of the main hypothesis that will drive next stages of this project.
