Abstract

This paper seeks to synthesize specific aspects related to business models: its definition, its functions and elements that comprise it. It is assumed that there is no consensus on the definition of business model by the current academic community; however, certain positions stand for understanding that variable from different approaches. Based on the latter, a documentary research was conducted by which the reviewed literature was synthetized. Based on the results, a definition of the business model concept and its basic elements are proposed.
